BA Dolphins win CO Fireworks 12U Championship!!

Broomfield, CO.- The 2006 Colorado Fireworks 12 and Under Fast-pitch Softball Tournament was held this past weekend in beautiful Broomfield, CO and the Broken Arrow Dolphins went UNDEFEATED winning 9 games in a row to bring home the Championship Trophy.

The Colorado Fireworks Girls Softball Tournament is a National caliber tournament. It began in 1973 as a local tourney and was transformed into one of the best invitational tournaments in the country.  It started in Arvada and operated as the COLORADO FIRECRACKER for 18 years.  In 1990 the tournament changed its name to the "COLORADO FIREWORKS".   Broomfield has hosted this event since 1988.   The tournament attracts the top teams from around the nation as well as over "300 college coaches" to scout the talent.  Many teams use this tournament as a recruiting tool.  Broomfield is a suburb of the Denver Metro.  It is a beautiful city that sets just North-West of Denver nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.   The tournament consisted of several of the Top 12 and Under, Class A, Competitive Fast-Pitch Softball teams from throughout the United States, along with four teams from Oklahoma including the Broken Arrow Dolphins.

The Broken Arrow Dolphins are a 12 and under Class A Competitive Fast-Pitch Softball Team who are members of the Broken Arrow Girls Softball League (BAGSL) located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The team is coached by Head Coach & Manager Greg McGraw along with Assistant Coach Victor Dewbery and is comprised of some of the Top Amateur female Athletes from throughout Northeastern Oklahoma including Broken Arrow, Tulsa, Claremore, Bartlesville and McAlester.  The team has an extremely successful past including winning the 2004 AFA 10U 'A' NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

The Dolphins started off in Pool Play at 8:00am on Friday morning against the Missouri City Magic out of Texas.  The girls played hard winning by a final score of 5-2.  Next up, they faced the Colorado Stars of Louisville, CO at 9:30am and won an defensive battle, by a final score of 2-0.  This gave the Dolphins the rest of the day off to enjoy the other games and the beautiful city of Broomfield.

On Saturday afternoon the girls started off against TCB Orange out of Houston, Texas at 4:00pm and got their bats going rallying for an impressive 8-1 victory.  This left the Dolphins facing an in-state rival in the Car-Toys Extreme of Tulsa and both teams put on a defensive shutdown.  The Dolphins prevailed in the end though, winning by a final score of 1-0.  This left the Dolphins with an Undefeated (4-0) POOL Record and in First Place, heading into the Tournament.

So, the Dolphins started off tournament play at 1:15pm on Sunday afternoon against the hometown favorite Colorado Redwings from Broomfield.  The team played great, putting on an offensive explosion and a defensive shutout winning by a final score of 12-0.  Next up the Dolphins would face the TCB Blue of Houston, TX at 4:45pm.  The girls played another good game and were victorious in the end by a close score of 2-0.

This left the team playing on Monday afternoon at 3:00pm against the Shamrocks of Ashburn, VA.  Again, the Dolphins got themselves into a defensive battle but came out on top in the end by a score of 1-0.

Next up would be the only other team to be undefeated in tournament play, the Texas Peppers of Magnolia, TX.  A loss would leave the Dolphins with a guaranteed, respectable third place and put them in the losers bracket, but a win would guarantee second and advance them to the Championship game.  The girls were not going to be satisfied with third place and were determined to finish what they had started.  This would be a great game for the Dolphins and the girls stayed focused and won by a final score of 3-0.

So, here they were, four days after they started, it’s the Fourth of July and their dream was here, they were undefeated and playing for the Championship.  They would be facing a rematch with the Texas Peppers and the Peppers were determined to avenge their previous loss.  The Dolphins stepped up and were going to show everyone why they were undefeated.  They once again put on an offensive explosion winning by a final score of 7-1.  They had finished the weekend UNDEFEATED and as CHAMPIONS!!

The entire Broken Arrow Dolphins organization should hold their heads high because this is one of the most impressive performances of this year and an overall proud representation of Green Country and the entire state of Oklahoma.

Congratulations to the entire Broken Arrow organization for your hard work and dedication.  Please, everyone congratulate these young Ladies when you see them and let them know how proud we are of their hard work and dedication on and off the field.  Also, feel free to leave them a Message in their Guest Book on their Web-Site at http://www.eteamz.com/BAGSLDolphins
