Tulsa Shootout take 3rd in Hall-of-Fame!!
Oklahoma City- The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) cordially invited the Tulsa Shootout to participate in the 2006 ASA 16U Hall-of-Fame National Qualifier Tournament. The tournament was held this past weekend of June 23rd thru June 25th 2006 at the ASA Hall-of-Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, OK. The National Qualifier tournament consisted of 24 of the Top 16 and Under, Class A, Competitive Fast-Pitch Softball teams in the United States. Teams qualify to participate by their performance in ten Local Hall-of-Fame qualifier tournaments held throughout the nation. The Tulsa Shootout qualified by going undefeated and winning the Local HOF Qualifier Championship held in Sand Springs earlier this year.
The ASA Don E. Porter Hall of Fame Stadium is widely regarded as the finest softball facility in the nation and has played host to the best softball competition in the world, including USA teams that represent the nation in international competitions. Annually, ASA Don E. Porter Hall of Fame Stadium plays host to a wide variety of softball events, including the nation's number one collegiate contest, the NCAA Women's College World Series (WCWS), which annually draws more than 45,000 spectators from around the nation. In addition, the 2006 World Cup of Softball will be held there next month.
The Tulsa Shootout is a 16 and under Class A Competitive Fast-Pitch Softball Team based in Tulsa, OK. The team is coached by Head Coach & Manager Krystel Markwardt along with Assistant Coaches Pam Burton, Tim Burton, Crystal Clay and Dana Miller and is comprised of some of the Top Amateur female Athletes from throughout Northeastern Oklahoma including Tulsa, Bristow, Claremore, Owasso, Picher, Pryor, Sand Springs and Wynadotte.
Indeed it is an honor for the entire Tulsa Shootout organization considering they are one of only 24 total teams who were invited from throughout the country. The Shootout was not going to be satisfied with just being invited, they were determined to show the HOF and the country that Green Country does produce some of the nations Top fast pitch talent. So, the Team played tough and started off by winning their first four games in a row. The girls beat some of the Top teams in the country including the Arizona Storm (2-0), the Midland Explosions (3-2), the Collins Hill Elite Eagles (3-2) and the Southern Cal Pride (1-0) before losing to the eventual Champion Georgia Extreme (6-1) and in the Second Place game rematch with the So Cal Pride (1-0). This left the Tulsa Shootout with an impressive third place victory and an overall proud representation of Green Country and the entire state of Oklahoma.
Congratulations to the entire Tulsa Shootout organization for your hard work and dedication.
